Our Objectives

  • To identify specific transport needs of the GREAT Community.
  • Where appropriate initiate, operate and provide small groups transport services.
  • To lobby and advocate on relevant transport issues on behalf of the GREAT community.
  • To develop GREAT resources in alignment with our organisational core values.
  • To recruit, co-ordinate, train and manage paid and unpaid workers.
  • To source and submit for resources from relevant sectors.
  • Ensure governance, leadership and directions operate within GREAT core values.
  • To meet relevant legislative requirements eg OH&S, IR and Licensing.
  • To adhere to relevant funding body guidelines.
  • To foster a learning organisational culture with GREAT.
  • The income and property of GREAT Community Transport Inc. however derived, shall be applied solely towards the promotion of the objects of GREAT Community Transport Inc. and no portion thereof shall be paid to/or transferred directly or indirectly to its members.

Who is Eligible?

GREAT Community Transport provides Special Care - Small Group Transport for the Home and Community Care (HACC) target group ie the frail aged, people with disabilities and their carers for residents of the Blue Mountains and Penrith Local Government Areas. Some short term assistance to health related appointments is available for people who are temporarily "transport disadvantaged".

Assessment and Privacy Statement

To become a client of GREAT Community Transport each person is assessed as to their transport needs and contributions towards the service are negotiated individually. Clients requesting transport assistance need to give at least 3 working days notice. Cancellations are to be given with as much notice as possible.
