GCT has 22 service vehicles ranging from sedans. Station wagons and wheel chair accessible vans and mini-buses.What transport options are available?
Special Care – small group and some individual transport is provided in one of the following vehicles dependent on need and availability.
- Wheelchair accessible mini-buses.
- Wheelchair accessible vans
- Station wagons & smaller vans
- Dedicated oncology transport vehicles
- Volunteer Driver Team fund- raised GCT vehicles
- Volunteers, using their own comprehensively insured vehicles assist with local and out of area health related transports

Ever wondered about the names of our cars?
Greg’s GadaboutGreg Marshall passed away in August 2008, at the age of 42. Greg was a volunteer with the Penrith Resource Centre Inc. As a committed volunteer Greg held the positions of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary and Public Officer with PDRC as well as serving as a Board Member & Chairperson with GREAT for many years. Greg, who had spina bifida, was a wonderful example to the wider community.
Rod’s Runabout
Rod Sproule passed away from cancer in May 2010. Rod joined Great Community Transport in October 2000 as a volunteer Bus Carer assisting clients on special outings to enjoy the day out. Rod continued to serve the community until shortly before his death.
Barb’s BuggyBarbara Jarvis passed away from cancer in June 2001. Barbara was a long serving volunteer bus carer and office receptionist who continued to volunteer with GREAT even after she was diagnosed with cancer.
Bruno’s Buggy
Bruno Valentini passed away from cancer in February 2010. Bruno was a long serving volunteer driver who used his own vehicle to transport people to and from their medical appointments – a dedicated and caring man.
Colin’s Car
Colin Zentveld passed away from cancer in June 2005. Colin was a member of Nepean Community Transport Committee as well as an inaugural member of Great Community Transport’s Board of Management.
Gloria’s Gadabout
Gloria Newton passed away from cancer in April 1995. Gloria was along serving bus carer as well as a Management Committee member for Mountains Community Transport.
Assessment and Privacy Statement
To become a client of GREAT Community Transport each person is assessed as to their transport needs and contributions towards the service are negotiated individually.
Clients requesting transport assistance need to give at least 3 working days notice. Transport cancellations are to be given with as much notice as possible.
