Who can use Community Transport?
Great Community Transport provides special care transport for the frail aged, people with disabilities and their carers. Some short term assistance to health related appointments, may be available for people, who are temporarily ‘transport disadvantaged’.How can I become a client of Great Community Transport?
To become a client of GCT each person is assessed as to their transport needs and eligibility for assistance. The initial assessment is done by telephone and takes approximately 15 minutes with all information treated as strictly confidential. Clients may use an advocate to represent their interests.Where can I go?
GCT provides transport assistance to:-• Hospital and medical appointments
• Centre based meals
• Oncology transport in our dedicated vehicles.
• Regular mini-bus shopping services.
• One to one shopping assistance for high need clients.
• Social and respite outings.
• Other – call and discuss your requests.
Is there a cost involved?
GCT is a community based, charitable organisation and a client contribution is required towards the cost of transport. If cost is a problem, a reduced free can be negotiated with our Client Intake officer.Will I be transported in a car?
Transport is generally small group transport in small buses/vans however we will provide the safest, most comfortable transport for your need dependant on available resources.Assessment and Privacy Statement
To become a client of GREAT Community Transport each person is assessed as to their transport needs and contributions towards the service are negotiated individually.
Clients requesting transport assistance need to give at least 3 working days notice. Transport cancellations are to be given with as much notice as possible.
